Folk arts exhibition from June 16

International Indian Folk Art Gallery (IIFAG), an Australian art organisation, will present an Indian folk art exhibition and workshop for the “Endangered Folk Arts of India”, at Chitrakala Parishath (CKP), Bengaluru.

The exhibition will be held from June 16 to 19 at galleries 3, 4 and 7. A display of 300 amazing and unique artefacts from all over India will be presented at the exhibition at affordable prices.

The IIFAG will also showcase the world’s longest Pattachitra painting which is 35 feet wide and 3 feet tall that was completed in 35 days. It is designed on a pure silk Tussar fabric by a group of highly skilled Pattachitra artists from Odisha.

The IIFAG has always propagated the beauty of Indian Folk Art across the globe and continues the tradition of teaching the next generation. The artworks that will be displayed at CKP are works from emerging artists and contemporary folk art curated by different regions across the country. Art works such as Chittara, Mysuru, Madhubani, Warli, Tanjore, Pothi , Phad and many more of such kind will be exhibited.

In addition, IIFAG will also be hosting nine free workshops - Gurukulam, for interested art lovers and students during the four days. The workshop, Gurukulam is a state-of-the-art learning management system extending knowledge transfer to art lovers by the most experienced artist, Chitrakar Sri Sadashiv Kulkarni from Maharashtra. His team includes award winning teachers from all the states across India. Renowned Warli artist Anita Devi (Maharashtra), Kangra artist Vandana Rajan (Tamil Nadu), Madhubani artist Avdhesh Kumar Karn (Bihar), Chittarra artist Geetha Bhat (Karnataka) and many other artists will be a part of the workshop.

This free workshop will be conducted on the four days at the venue in 2 sessions – June 16 to 18 between 10 am and 12 noon and 2 pm and 4 pm, and June 19 between 10 am and 12 noon. The participants will get a certificate signed by the founder and the artist Chitrakar Sadashiv Kulkarni.
