Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an interaction with the beneficiaries of various central government programmes since the last three years, at Maharaja College grounds on June 21.
Co-Operation and District-In- Charge Minister S.T.Somashekar inspected the venue and discussed with the authorities concerned the construction of the dais, guests, seating arrangements for beneficiaries and the security of the visiting VVIP.
Hundreds of beneficiaries are expected to participate in this interactive programme from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts. With regard to the yoga event at Mysuru Palace on June 21 on the occasion of International Day of Yoga in which the PM will be participating, the minister said the government of India has decided to allow 15,000 people inside the palace and registration for this event would be done online. Anyone can register their names for the event.
Asked about the nationwide protest by Congress leaders in the wake of notices served on AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the National Herald case, Somashekar sought to know why they should be scared if they had done all deals as per rules. Nothing would happen to Sonia or Rahul Gandhi if their deals were fair. There was absolutely no politics behind serving notice on the Gandhis, he added.
On the proposed privatisation of Hotel Lalit Mahal Palace in Mysuru, he said the issue had come up when C.P.Yogeshwar was tourism minister and elected representatives of Mysuru had opposed it. Now the matter has been referred to the Cabinet Sub- Committee in which Tourism Minister Anand Singh and Youth Services and Sports Minister C.Narayanagowda are members. The sub-committee will give a report whether the hotel must be maintained by Jungle Lodges & Resorts Limited or be privatised.

Shops around PM’s event venue evicted to ensure security
The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mysuru to take part in the International Day of Yoga programme at Mysuru Palace on June 21 may certainly bring cheer to citizens but roadside stall keepers whose livelihood depends on their daily earning are a disappointed lot as they are being evicted from all roads surrounding the venue.
A week before the event, the police have removed sellers of fruits, vegetables, tender coconuts, fast food and other food items which are relished by Mysureans. They have been asked to shift their business elsewhere temporarily or close down for a week.
A cut fruit seller near Kukkarahalli tank, a favourite spot for health freaks, was evicted Tuesday evening. Similarly, a number of mobile food points too have been shifted elsewhere. A number of villagers from the outskirts of Mysuru sell fresh fruit and vegetables near Maharaja’s College Grounds and they have been asked to keep away till next week as Modi would be holding an interaction with the beneficiaries of central government schemes, after the Yoga event.
According to sources, the PM is expected to visit Suttur Mutt situated in the foothills of Chamundi Hill Tuesday morning(June 21). All shops in the vicinity have been asked to shut in view of security reasons. A cop told News Trail that heads would roll down in case of any breach of security during the visit of PM Modi. So, no one is ready to take any chances.
The shop-keepers can resume business from June 22, he added. Joggers relish the fresh tender coconuts sourced from nearby farms at outlets in front of Maharaja College Ground and now they have also been asked to leave the place. The security staff of the PM will reportedly take over the ground and convey their requirements to the state police.
