
PM to lay foundation stone for new works at Mysuru Railway station

With a view to reduce stress on the existing infrastructure at Mysuru Railway Station and to upgrade facilities, a detailed project report for projects worth Rs 395.78 crore is being prepared, said Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha.
He said that during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised a 10-lane Express Highway between Mysuru and Bengaluru and also the construction of a railway terminal at Naganahalli.
While the expressway project is on the verge of completion, the Naganahalli project was delayed due to delay in land acquisition. The pressure on the railway station was more following the arrival of additional trains at Mysuru.
So, the existing railway quarters on 65 acres would be demolished to construct three additional platforms. Once they are ready, Mysuru Railway Station would have nine platforms, The station would also be extended, said Simha adding that the railways has proposed three additional platform lines, four additional pitlines, four additional static lines and an additional shunting neck.
The work will start once the DPR is ready. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the bhumi puja for the new work on June 20. Memu shed construction The MP said with the arrival of more Memu trains in Mysuru, a Memu shed would be constructed at Naganahalli at a cost of Rs 92.07 crore. Along with it, an additional platform and two sibling lines would also be built.
The Naganahalli terminal will help improve connectivity with all states. Even Ashokpuram Railway station would be provided with two additional platforms and a footover bridge. “We have not shelved Naganahalli Satellite Railway terminal project but we are starting with the construction of the Memu shed,” he added.
