Madrasana in collaboration with Bangalore International Centre (BIC) presents Yatra, a musical-narrative journey, by Sivasri Skandaprasad and Vinay Varanasi. This yatra will explore Sant Namdev’s unique life experiences and their reflections in his musical compositions – abhangs. This exploration aims to go beyond a linear retelling of his story – it focuses on a celebration of Namdev’s life and teachings, and the music and narrative have been designed to come together seamlessly for that.

“The power of seers and saints lies in their teachings, as well as their life journeys. Every seer/saint has experienced a lot, internalized, and channeled it in order to connect with the divine. Sant Namdev (1270-1350AD) was one such soul, whose journey is unmatched,” says Sivasri Skandaprasad adding that his experiences, and his connections with Panduranga Vittala have given us so much to hold on to.

“His abhangs are filled with extraordinary wisdom, and serve as a way to understand his life story,” says Vinay Varanasi. Sivasri Skandaprasad’s tryst with music and dance began at a very young age. She was always inspired by her father since she was 3-year-old and is captivated by something that has become an integral part of her life now and she is on a journey to revive and reinvent the core of Indian Art. While Vinay Varanasi is a keen practitioner of Sanatana dharma.

Based on his research and fascination, he has been exploring and presenting different indic works, in unique formats. They will be joined by N Chandrashekar on harmonium and Adamya Ramanand on mridangam.
