A 5 - acre  gated community in Kengeri has been served notice by Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) for building an approach road by encroaching upon the board’s property.

The KHB has issued a notice to M/s White Meadows Associations regarding the matter.

The statement said, “The layout has encroached the KHB property bearing SN 170/1, KHB colony, Bandemutt, Kengeri, which is designated for park area to use as entrance”.

The notice is issued under sub-section (1) of Section 45 of the Karnataka Housing Board Act1962. KHB assistant executive Soumya, said, “The encroachment started ten years ago, but we were not aware of it. After we came to know, we immediately issued a notice, but as of now, we have not received any response. We are discussing with our legal team on what to do next.”

Some of the residents of the area approached the Lokayukta team about the lack of parks and open spaces in the area. Residents have also alleged that they were promised nine parks in their 70-acre layout, but nothing was done.

Following that the Lokayukta team visited the Layout and questioned KHB on park development and encroachment.

Sumanth, a member of the white Meadows, said that before constructing the road they were not aware that the land belonged to KHB.

“We were not aware that the area was given for park construction. We haven’t taken any decision on what to do next”  sumanth added
