Bengaluru: The 25-year-old survivor of an acid attack that had taken place near Sunkadakatte in the city on April 28 is recovering well, thanks to the efforts of the doctors and the woman's parents who stood strong and remained steadfast through her difficult times.
After going through multiple skin grafting surgeries and spending two and a half months in the intensive care unit (ICU), the woman has finally been discharged from the hospital.
Speaking to News Trail the woman said, "It was indeed a tough time and I pray that no other woman should go through such agony. The government and the authorities in the law should ensure this. The accused must be hanged till death.
" Recently, after three months of the probe, the Kamakshipalya police filed a charge sheet against the accused in the case, Nagesh Babu.
When she was told that the accused has been imprisoned, she said that may not be enough. "The government must initiate stricter laws to avoid such incidents in the future. I cannot forget this pain all my life, even if I want to. Women must be respected," she said.
It has been 106 days since the incident took place and nobody can imagine the extreme pain suffered by the woman who had received 36 percent burn injuries on her body. But this case brings us to summarise that such evets occur as a result of dehumanisation or a lack of moral or humanistic principles in a person. Everyone has a right to live their life peacefully, but without disturbing others' lives.
"I feel alright now, but still there is pain. I want to thank the people of my city and everyone who had prayed for my recovery and supported me and my family during the hard times," the woman said
