Bengaluru: The Congress party is experiencing a ‘sensation’ of sorts and has launched the ‘Congress Jathra’ and has also begun the process of inducting leaders who have worked in rural areas, said KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar. Addressing a meeting after the induction of former JD(S) MLC C.R. Manohar into the party, he said they were all were joining the Congress without any pre-conditions. They include gram panchayat members and others who have faith in the principles and ideology of the Congress. No one must discriminate between old and new party workers as once they join the ‘house of the Congress’, they must stop personality worship and practice ‘party puja’ while working for the progress of the Congress, he said. The pro-Congress wave has been sweeping across the state and party leaders and workers must stand united in the coming by-polls and Legislative Council polls. Those who wish to join the party must fill up the application and submit it to the block, district or state level committees, without putting any conditions. Key leaders of the party must take membership in their respective booths on December 11 at 11 am. A connection has been provided between KPCC and AICC through a zoom meeting in social media, Shivakumar added. Mekedatu padayatra Shivakumar also said the Congress has planned a padayatra seeking the implementation of Mekedatu project from the proposed project site in Kanakapura upto Bengaluru during the first week of January, next year. The date of the padayatra would be announced soon. The proposed project would not only provide drinking water to Bengaluru but also to Mandya, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, but also for power generation. Those who wish to participate in the padayatra have to register their names. All district leaders must furnish details of the participating workers well in advance.
