A woman was arrested along with three others for allegedly giving ‘supari’ to a gang to kill her husband so that she could live with her paramour, Peenya police said on Friday.

The accused were identified by the police as Pallavi, a resident of Doddabidarakallu, her mother Amajamma, Harish and Mugilan.

Police said that Pallavi’s husband, Navin Kumar, was an employee of a metalworking tool factory in Chokkasandra. He was also working as a part-time driver. He owned a house and stayed with his wife and children near Doddabidarakallu. Meanwhile, his wife began having an affair with a person, identified as Himavanth Kumar, and plotted to get rid of her husband. For this, Pallavi had sought the help from three persons who took Navin to Tamil Nadu on the pretext of a business trip. Navin was unaware of his wife’s affair.

However, the men failed to kill him due to the fear of getting caught, police said. “Instead they intoxicated him by offering him drinks and then marked his clothes with red colour to make it look like blood,” an officer from Peenya police station told News Trail. The trio took a photo of Navin and shared it to Pallavi to make her believe that he was dead.

Meanwhile, Navin’s brother was suspicious of his sudden absence and enquired with Pallavi, who tried to avoid the conversation by telling him that Navin is on a business trip and has not called her for several days. Unconvinced, Navin’s brother then called his younger sister who visited the police station and filed a missing complaint.

As the police started investigation, Pallavi’s boyfriend Himavanth Kumar committed suicide due to fear of getting caught by the police.

Soon Navin returned to his house and revealed the truth. After being arrested, the woman has confessed to the crime, police said. Further investigation will follow.
