Police to step up vigil against Maoists

 Karnataka State Police has formed four special teams of personnel to keep a tab on the movements of Maoists and Naxalites across the state.

As per the police sources, the special teams will identify and operate in are as frequented by anti-nationals.

Noting that the Naxal movement is raising its head again in several states including Karnataka, the Central Government has directed the state police departments to deploy special wing officers to comb the regions in four different parts to prevent any untoward incidents.

As per the sources, the identified regions include Kutt village in Virajpet, Kodagu; Karike in Madikeri; Bawali village near HD Kote in Mysur u and Gundlupet i n Chamarajanagar As per the notification from the Central Government, 267 personnel will be part of the four special teams.

Two ACPs will be in charge of operations, eight ACPs as Operational Commanders, police inspectors to be deployed as Assistant Commanders, 16 police subinspectors, one female police sub-inspector, four female assistant sub-inspectors, 40 head constables, 120 police constables and 16 sniffer dogs.
