State Higher Education CN Ashwath Narayan on Monday said that the State government would challenge the Karnataka High Court order to redo the Karnataka Common Entrance Test rankings. He added that the order, if implemented, would do “injustice” to freshers. He made the comments after discussing the matter with Karnataka Education Authority Ramya S, legal experts and other high ranking officials.
Unease began among students when KEA substituted the s e c o n d PU exams with an internal assessment method on account of the pandemic. Later on, the State government issued a proviso, deciding that the internal assessment would not be considered for the 2021-22 academic year and only the CET performance would be taken into account. The same method would hold good for repeaters in the next academic year (2022-23), they added. The repeaters number over 23,000. The proviso had been challenged in court and was termed discriminatory.
