Bengaluru:
Home buyers in Karnataka have demanded the suspension of RERA Chairman, Kishore Chandra, for wrongly recording home buyers’ information and closing the complaint with wrong and false information in the government records. Karnataka Home Buyers Forum had written to the Chief Justice of India demanding proper implementation of the RERA act.
Karnataka Home Buyers Forum Sanchalak Dhananjaya Padmanabhachar, said, “Do these officers understand that they are getting salaries from our tax money? These officers, who have not delivered orders in two years, close the complaint with the wrong reason, saying that the case is settled where it is not settled. Why RERA authorities cannot record the truth?” “The RERA chairman has not been doing his work efficiently. Several cases have been shut down saying that the cases are resolved. But the reality is that the cases were not settled. It clearly shows that RERA officials are trying to hide the truth and manipulate facts in the official records. We demand that the government take immediate action towards the proper functioning of RERA and reduce corruption in the department,” added Dhananjaya.
They have also demanded the Supreme Court help home buyers by ensuring their rights. When a home buyer gets into an agreement with promoters/ developers, the promoters force on the home buyer various one-sided and arbitrary clauses in violation of The Karnataka Ownership Flats (Regulation of the Promotion of Construction, Sale, Management and Transfer) Act, 1972, and The Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016 (hereinafter referred to as RERA) both legislated with the specific intention to regulate such acts of promoters who sell ownership flats and layouts/ plotted developments.
The deviation from these Acts is with the singular intention of denying and/ or cheating home buyers of their legal rights, said the home buyers forum. “We want the officials to function as per the RERA guidelines,” added Dhananjaya.
