BMTC introduces e-tickets on their Tummoc app
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: After the introduction of Tummoc app, commuters of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have been travelling with ease, by being able to purchase their monthly, weekly, or daily passes on the mobile application.
The application was introduced in April and has risen to much popularity. BMTC is still in the process of developing its homegrown app, which will allow both the tracking of apps and buying of e-tickets as well as passes. Till then, the Tummoc application can be used in its place.
The BMTC is currently waiting for its internal circulars to be issued out to its employees to get the operation started, as this means a huge change in the functioning of the corporation.
The tickets can be bought the same way as the e-passes are on the Tummoc app and the conductors will be provided with a QR code readable Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) to validate the passes. Most buses in the city still operate with conductors following the old-fashioned way of issuing tickets in paper.
While all of them are being equipped with ETMs to validate passes bought online, most of them are yet to be equipped with the software. The buses that do accept online modes of transaction do not accept transactions involving UPI as the software is still not upgraded.
