Azim Premji University organises talk on climate change

Bengaluru: Azim Premji University is organising a talk on Climate change and the Anthropocene at Bangalore International Centre on October 27. The session is part of the let’s talk climate change talk series by the university.

The talk is attended by Mahesh Rangarajan. Prof Mahesh Rangarajan teaches History and Environmental Studies at Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryana. He is also the chair of the Ashoka Archives of Contemporary India.

The talk by Prof. Mahesh Rangarajan will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by Harini Nagendra. Harini Nagendra is a Professor at Azim Premji University, where she leads the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability.

Her research focuses on social-ecological transformations in South Asia. The talk revolves around nobel laureate Paul Crutzen’s idea that humans came to exert a force for change in the earth’s ecology from the late 18th century neatly conflated the onset of the Industrial Revolution in England with the start of the Anthropocene.
