Kanakapura: 12 held for religious conversion
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: As many as 12 people who were allegedly involved in organising a religious conversion programme of Hindu tribals in Kanakapura town in the outskirts of Bengaluru, have been arrested by the cops.
According to preliminary reports, the conversion targeted Chikkamuduwadi Tandya tribe members who were kept at a house in Kanakapura town. Right wing activists have claimed that Christian missionaries are forcing people to convert to Christianity in Kanakapura.
In the past, there have been attempts to construct the world's highest statue of Lord Jesus in Kapalabetta, Kanakapura. State Congress president, D.K. Shivakumar was accused by Hindu activists of supporting the construction.
