BMTC driver booked for fatally knocking down biker

Bengaluru: A BMTC bus driver was booked for allegedly running over a 24-yearold biker on the Outer Ring Road near Sumanahalli flyover in Kamakshipalya traffic police station limits on Wednesday night. As per the traffic police, the accident took place around 10:30 pm when Pramod Kumar, 24, a resident of Laggere, was returning from his work on his two-wheeler.
A BMTC bus going towards Laggere from Summanahalli allegedly knocked his bike from behind which made him lose his balance and fall down. Before he could act, the biker came under the rear wheels of the bus, the police said.
The officer also said that Pramod had slowed down to negotiate a rumble strip on the road while he was hit by the bus. The passers-by and residents rushed Pramod to KC General Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Some of the residents caught the bus driver and handed him over to the police.
Caretaker arrested A caretaker was arrested by the Malleswaram police for allegedly fleeing with the valuables worth Rs 7 lakh from her employer's house. As per the complaint filed by a Malleswaram resident, gold ornaments weighing 156 grams were found missing from his cupboard on October 23.
Suspecting the care-taker, he had filed a complaint with the police. During the interrogation, the woman confessed to have stolen the jewellery to clear her debts. The police have recovered ornaments worth Rs 5.98 lakh from her.
Seized bikes auction The Yeshwanthpur traffic police have decided to auction the unclaimed and seized twowheelers by the police on November 3 on the police station premises. The auction is set to begin at 11:30 am, a police officer said. The police said there are a variety of vehicles; some old vehicles that are already in a dilapidated condition, some seized under various traffic offences and others with no claimants.
The police have sought permission from the court as well as the West division traffic department to auction the vehicles. The police said that the bidders should bring along any one of the following documents for registration: ration card, voter identity card, driving licence and Aadhaar card.
