Accused in acid attack case develops gangrene

Bengaluru: The acid attacker who threw acid at a 23-year-old woman in the city on April 28, has reportedly developed gangrene and is currently facing the threat of leg amputation. Nagesh Babu was nabbed by the city police from an ashram near Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu on May 13.
While being brought to the city, he was shot at by the police on his leg while trying to escape the arrest. He was nabbed and shifted to a hospital in the city. He was then sent to Central Prison as the police filed a 770-page chargesheet in the court in connection with the acid attack incident.
A metal rod was inserted into his leg bone after he was shot at by the police while trying to escape. However, the wound on his right leg reportedly did not heal as expected and instead the accused continued to suffer pain while trying to walk. A
s per the police sources, the accused is currently undergoing treatment at a prisoners’ ward in Victoria hospital and the doctors have suspected signs of gangrene infection on his wound. Meanwhile speaking to the reporters, the survivor of the acid attack said that she is waiting for the court to punish the accused for the pain he had inflicted upon her.
The miscreant had attacked the woman with corrosive acid near Sunkadakatte for purportedly rejecting his advances.
