NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials raided 11 places across the state, including the residences of the suspended ADGP Amrit Paul and DySP Shanthakumar in connection with the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam on Thursday.
According to sources, the ED officers reached the residences of Amrit Paul and Shanthakumar in the city around 11 am and began searching for important documents linked to the scam. The ED raid was carried out based on a case that was filed earlier under the Prevention of Money Laundering (PML) Act, 2002 in the matter.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) which was probing the scam, arrested Amrit Paul on June 4. As it was the first time that an ADGP rank officer was arrested by the CID for involvement in a scam, the news had made headlines across the nation. DySP Shanthakumar was arrested on May 12.
During the CID investigation, it was revealed that the room where the OMR sheets of the PSI exam candidates were kept, was under ADGP Paul’s supervision. Later it was found that the ADGP himself had arranged for the “deal” in the recruitment process and had been involved in irregularities.
Meanwhile, Amrit Paul’s residence in Sahakar Nagar and Shanthkumar’s house in Adugodi Technical Cell are being searched by the ED officials. Further details of the investigation will follow.
