Bengaluru: Dr MA Saleem, special commissioner of police (traffic), met with members of Institute of Engineers, Bengaluru and discussed engineering-related traffic problems ridden in the city. “Hope to avail their expertise for decongestion,” he tweeted.

For the past couple of days, the traffic flow within the city seems to have eased with no major bottlenecks and the commuters reporting spending less time on the road. Saleem has said that decongesting nine major junctions has helped solve the problem significantly.

The traffic police had recently imposed curbs on the movement of all goods vehicles from Sadahalli junction to Hebbal flyover from 8.30 am to 10.30 am. This has helped ease traffic flow on this busy flyover, which provides a vital link from the city to Kempegowda International Airport.

Along with this, putting a curb on parking on busy roads of the central business district, shifting the BMTC bus stops away from traffic junctions and the presence of close to 3,700 traffic cops from all the hierarchies on roads during peak hours has helped bring about the change commuters are witnessing, he has said. Residents of the city are hopeful for more positive changes.
