The premises of the Nagasandra metro station of the Green line of Namma Metro on Tumakuru Road, saw those travelling back from their hometowns, waiting in long queues to board the trains early on Monday. This comes at a time where the Green Line extension to Madawara is awaiting a formal inauguration, almost a month has passed after a successful safety inspection. Commuters and netizens lashed out at the authorities for not opening the extension while alleging that politicians were holding back the inauguration to avail the opportunity to open it. If the line had been opened earlier, people could have avided the queues, commuters suggested.
A netizen on 'X' claimed that the presence of the crowd at Nagasandra station prompted him to drop his wife directly at her office, rather than dropping her as he does usually at the metro station. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) saw 15800 passengers enter the Nagasandra station between 6 am and 11 am on Monday. This was much higher than the usual count of 11,000. “Most of the passengers with baggage had to be frisked, to ensure safety. We adopted manual frisking too and cleared the rush with least delay,” BMRCL stated.
