The Osborne Road Area Residents’ Welfare Association (ORARWA) has submitted a detailed letter to the Chief Commissioner of BBMP regarding the proposed construction of a sky deck in Bengaluru. The letter outlines a series of concerns and suggestions in response to the public notice issued on October 30, 2024. The association recognises the aspiration to elevate Bengaluru to international city status but emphasises the need for thorough consideration of existing resources, infrastructure and the overall condition of the city before executing such a significant project. Key points highlighted in their letter include the absence of clear plans or visual representations of the proposed Sky Deck, which they believe hampers public understanding and engagement. ORARWA also expressed frustration over the short response time of just seven days for public feedback, particularly during a holiday period.

They criticised the BBMP's reliance on a basic Gmail service for official communication, deeming it inadequate for a major governmental body. Additionally, they raised concerns about the qualifications of the teams involved in identifying suitable locations for the Sky Deck, suggesting a lack of understanding of regulatory restrictions. While acknowledging the potential boost in tourism and state revenue from the Sky Deck, the association pointed out that visitors would require well-maintained infrastructure, efficient public transport and a clean environment to enhance their overall experience in the city. They advocated prioritising existing civic issues.
