City braces for continued rainfall amid statewide rain forecast

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Bengaluru is currently preparing for ongoing rainfall until July 8, amidst a broader forecast predicting extensive precipitation across Karnataka until July 12.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued alerts forecasting moderate to heavy showers in various regions, with some isolated areas likely to experience intense rainfall.

C S Patil, director of the India Meteorological Centre in Bengaluru, reported significant early July rainfall in coastal and western ghat regions. For instance, Agumbe recorded 34 mm of rainfall on July 3. Conversely, the Malenadu district has now reached its typical rainfall levels for this time of year.

The KSNDMC's latest bulletin mentions that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga districts, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall expected.

Additionally, a ‘yellow alert’ is in place for Belagavi, Dharwad, and Kodagu districts, signalling moderate rainfall.

As Bengaluru prepares for continued rainfall, residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of anticipated precipitation.
