JP Morgan developer's post on Google job offer sparks debate

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: A developer at JP Morgan, an American multinational finance company, has ignited an online debate after sharing a profile of an individual with ten years of experience who had anonymously disclosed their Google job offer. Kartik Jolapara took to X to post a screenshot of the profile, showcasing how someone with a decade of experience, from a tier 3 college with a non-computer science (CS) background, managed to land an impressive offer from Google. This has sparked widespread discussion, largely due to the individual's background.

According to the screenshot, the person was offered a Senior Software Engineer position at Google, with a base salary of Rs 65 lakh per annum. The offer also included significant perks: a Rs 9 lakh annual bonus, a Rs 19 lakh signing bonus, and a Rs 5 lakh relocation bonus. The post drew a range of reactions. One user commented, "Am I the only one who's not excited by these numbers? Aren't they standard in tech? Am I missing something?" Another added, "These figures are not uncommon for people with 6-8 years of experience. I've seen similar or better offers. Still, it's a good number, and I wish him the best." Some comments highlighted the individual's background. "An IIT graduate would get more than this through campus placements. What's the big deal? Are non-IIT engineers not valuable?" said one user.
